Nagoya meeting: Pakistan reaffirms April 2027 South Asian Games

A coordination committee meeting of 14th South Asian Games member countries was held in Nagoya, Japan on 28 September 2026, on the sidelines of the Asian Games.

The meeting was chaired by Nepal Olympic Committee president Jeevan Ram Shrestha, who heads the SAG Coordination Committee. Pakistan Olympic Association / SAOC secretary general Muhammad Khalid Mahmood briefed delegates on host preparations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to stage the Games on schedule in April 2027.

Discussions covered the preparation timeframe, sports entry deadlines and the Chefs de Mission meeting. Members reiterated collective support for a timely, successfully organised Games, and thanked the Pakistan Olympic Association for ongoing host work.

Shrestha also stressed keeping the South Asian Games on a regular cycle as a pathway toward the Asian Games. The last SAG was held in Kathmandu–Pokhara in December 2019.
