Ishaq Dar chairs SAG Steering Committee; FO cites 6,000 participants

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, according to reporting based on a Foreign Office statement.

The FO said dates had been finalised for 4–11 April 2027 (one day later than the widely cited SAOC window of 3–11 April), with competitions across Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It projected over 6,000 athletes and officials across 28 sports — a higher headline figure than earlier SAOC briefings that spoke of roughly 3,200 athletes.

The committee approved the appointment of a national coordinator and the makeup of Steering, Organising and Provincial Committees. Dar directed departments to keep coordinating, finish venues on time, and uphold high delivery standards.
