Peshawar confirmed as host city, replacing Faisalabad

Earlier host-city concepts for the delayed Games had centred on combinations such as Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad. In July 2026, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officials publicly criticised reports that the province might be left out.

When SAOC finalised the April 2027 plan on 23 August 2026, Peshawar was confirmed as the third host city — taking over from Faisalabad — with three sports assigned to the Peshawar Sports Complex area: archery, judo and volleyball.

The change means the 14th South Asian Games will span the federal capital, Punjab’s largest city, and KP’s capital for the first time in this edition’s planning.
