SAOC confirms South Asian Games 2027 for 3-11 April

The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC) has confirmed that the 14th South Asian Games will be held in Pakistan from 3 to 11 April 2027 — about a month later than the previous March window, to give hosts and visiting teams more time to finalise logistics.

The decision was taken at an SAOC meeting in Islamabad chaired by Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) president Arif Saeed, who also leads SAOC. Delegates from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended in person; India joined by video link. All sides endorsed the revised dates.

Pakistan last hosted the Games in Islamabad in 2004. The 2027 edition will be the country’s third staging of the regional multi-sport event and the first to use a three-city format beyond the capital alone.
