Three host cities: Islamabad 15 sports, Lahore 10, Peshawar 3
Organisers have confirmed a clear split of disciplines across the three host cities for the 14th South Asian Games.
Islamabad — 15 sports + ceremonies
The capital will stage the opening and closing ceremonies (opening planned at Jinnah Stadium) and host athletics, badminton, basketball, billiards & snooker, football, kabaddi, karate, rowing, squash, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, weightlifting, wushu and shooting.
Lahore — 10 sports
Lahore will stage boxing, cricket, fencing, golf, handball, hockey, rugby, swimming, taekwondo and wrestling.
Peshawar — 3 sports
Peshawar joins the host list with archery, judo and volleyball — replacing earlier plans that had featured Faisalabad as a host city.
Around 28 sports, 346 medal events and more than 3,200 athletes are expected, plus roughly 1,000 officials and support staff.
