CDWP approves Rs 5.7 billion for SAG infrastructure
Pakistan’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a Rs 5.7 billion package to upgrade sports infrastructure ahead of the South Asian Games in April 2027.
The package, reviewed under Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, includes extensive upgrades at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad and improvements to sports infrastructure in other cities. Officials say the goal is better quality, functionality and operational readiness for visiting teams.
The approval underlines the scale of rehabilitation needed before athletes arrive, while also leaving a longer-term legacy of upgraded venues after the Games.
