Inside the Games: Pakistan reaffirms April 2027 South Asian Games hosting

International sports outlet Inside the Games reports that Pakistan has again underlined its intention to host the 14th South Asian Games from 3–11 April 2027, ending years of delays and returning the event to the country for the first time since 2004.

The piece centres on the SAG Coordination Committee meeting in Nagoya (alongside the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games), chaired by Nepal Olympic Committee president Jeevan Ram Shrestha. Pakistan’s SAOC/NOC secretary general Muhammad Khalid Mahmood briefed members on preparations and restated the host schedule.

Inside the Games also notes the earlier Islamabad SAOC review — about 3,200 athletes, 346 medal events and 28 sports across Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar — and Shrestha’s push to restore a regular Games cycle as a pathway toward the Asian Games.
